Finding the Forgotten Graduate

Overview

In an effort to rectify the absence of data and recognition of intellectuals of colour in South Africa's mainstream national history, the project "PPS: Finding the Forgotten Graduate" embarked on a remarkable journey. Over 20 months, a collaborative effort between creatives, historians, actuaries, and our technology studio, was set in motion to unearth and reconstruct this deliberately subjugated history.

Approach

Injozi used our specialisation in cutting-edge digital experiences to play a pivotal role in shaping the heart of this initiative. With our expertise in WebGL technology, we dedicated nine months to developing a groundbreaking web-based interactive documentary titled "Finding the Forgotten Graduate." This immersive experience served as a digital archaeologist, unearthing forgotten graduates of colour and ultimately leading to the discovery of the first black graduate.
